Our Mission

Arturo A. Schomburg Satellite Academy Bronx (AASSAB) embodies our namesake, a man who refused to accept stereotypes about cultural histories and thus researched the truth for himself and the world. In his memory, we embrace students without labels and appreciate them as learners who investigate the truth, forge their own paths to success, and internalize social justice.

By re-engaging students in a safe and caring space, we cultivate a sense of agency and the resilience necessary to flourish in the face of challenges. Through authentic, engaging curricula and performance-based tasks, members of our community strive to become reflective and accountable lifelong learners, who excel in all post-secondary pursuits.
